This is a starting directory of Chicagoland companies that publicly advertise sump pump install, battery backup, or waterproofing with a sump — city plus suburbs people actually search: Naperville, Oak Park, Aurora, Evanston, Elgin, Joliet, and nearby. A water-powered backup needs pressure from a municipal water main. It will not run on a private household well: when the grid dies, the well pump dies with it, and there is no city-main pressure to drive the backup.
Water-powered will not work on well water. City source (Lake Michigan, Fox River, or a municipal well field) is not the same thing as a well in your yard. If the house is on a pressurized city main, water-powered is a real option. If you have a well pump, skip it and use a battery backup — or a generator that can run the AC primary. Confirm what is at your house, not the town slogan.

We did not find a reliable lot-by-lot map of private wells. Unincorporated Kane, McHenry, and far west/southwest parcels are more likely to have a well. If you are not billed by a city or village water department, assume well until you confirm.
